I had the same problem ... after waking up my powerbook G4 1.67Mhz with OS X 10.5.8 I lost the connections. It didn't even worked with the ethernet cable so I tried to figure out what's happening! ... and I luckily found this blog post.

I replaced the firewall settings with the described command and after a restart and some waiting it worked perfectly for me. Thanks a lot ... seems still to be an issue ...

Glad it helped!

And re:Readability: yes, sort of. I'm a partner at Arc90; one of my co-partners created Readability, and the firm as a whole supports it now. I definitely pitch in from time to time. Glad you like it!

Hey, thanks for the tip. It proved hugely useful earlier today in explaining how I unknowingly reconfigured my firewall, leaving me disconnected from my router for two days of mystery and frustration.

I'm sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, it sounds like the logic board will need to be replaced. It's a pretty expensive job — the part alone can be $400–$800.

Good luck!

Ah, finally! Many Google searches, two visits to Apple store, two visits to AT&T store, and nobody connected the dots.

RE: Step 5, you can also reset your voicemail by calling 611 from your phone and following the prompts.

Many thanks!

LOL!

Basically, FireWire is faster than USB. The difference can range from 10% faster to about 80 times faster, depending on which version of FW and which version of USB.

The current version of FW is about twice as fast as the current version of USB.

Dude, I know! I had a few Firebirds and Trans Ams. T-tops were hot! I loved mine. The Firebird Formula rocked.

That said, I do feel like the Firebird belongs in the past. Even the name… it just doesn't fit into the 21st century very well.
